Hello everyone, the day 1/02/2012 sets the end of my days at Cafundó Studio, but who knows is not a goodbye, and yes a see you soon. In this period that I have worked here I learned a lot of things, and not only related to specific knowledges in my field, Cafundó environment allowed me a maturity that I have never had in any other place that I had worked before.
So, I didn´t want to leave without letting something here, and I decided to make this post as an acknowledgment for everything that happened to me since 2010, for that I built a list with the 10 most important things that I have learned at Cafundó.
1 – Always do the best
Is not always do your best, is always do the best. Look for the best reference for the job you are doing and make it better.
2 – Compare yourself with the best ones
Even if you or your company are in small markets, compare your qualities and knowledges with the bests in the field, exceed the barrier of your market and develop remarkable projects.
3 – Don´t follow the guidelines
In Cafundó bathroom (yes, in the bathroom) there is a poster, that shows with data, that children pursue the potential to generate a much bigger number of alternatives to a problem then an adult. If we transfer it to our work, we will see that the possibility to make the obvious to a client is huge, so, get out of the planned, make more and make it different. Look for information from not expected sources, this way, you can be sure that what will presented will be better then expected and better then the competitors.
4 – Don´t hesitate in working with your friends
People always tells me that working with friends is bad, that no one gets the responsibility and and the work never gets good. LIE! when I came to Cafundó I had a friend since college times and soon was clear that a friendship feeling with all the team is needed to work in here. And working with friends is great, because in an important meeting, in a moment of decision in a project you can argue without fear of offending someone, friends knows that work is work and that any word told there is not personal.
5 – You never loose knowledge
This is another really important moment, at Cafundó people share a lot of information all the time and besides that, the Big Boss Leonardo Minozzo really enjoys paying a course to everyone here, so we can always learn more and more and bring it to the company. Just to prove how much we share information, was created a way from information sharing via e-mail, so is easier for us to get organized, the tag is [cachaça] (a famous and strong brazilian alcoholic drink).
6 – Be curious is good
When you work in a team with specifics knowledge, turn to the side and ask ” What is that?” always brings a nice answer. Be curious just adds to your specific knowledge and don´t hesiate in asking, not even for your boss, that he will teach you something.
7 - Don´t have prejudices
I´m not talking about homosexuality or race, bur of fear. Every time you have an idea, expose it to someone and exchange information, for more that the idea seems ridiculous. A lot of good projects were born from an idea that had everything for not coming out of someone´s mind.
8 – Never handle only what the client asks
This is really important, surprise your client and show that you can do more, if the client asks for one piece, give the best piece he can receive, but besides, show that with other ideas he can have a better and more lasting result.
9 – Show there are other options
Following the logic above, if the client asks for a website, but the best for him is a 3D animation, show him this option, show him also what it can bring to what he asked. Not always the obvious is the better. Remember item 3?
10 – Be humble and listen to the client, he knows more about his business then you do.
I always worked in advertisement agencies and with bigger clients then Cafundó clients, but were this clients, that for being smaller, feels more caress by the company and following its day-by-day, that a learned that they know what they say. These guys lives for the companies that they create and are able to make everything for it to prosper, so listen to this guys, they can give you the best track to the project execution.
These 10 items were the most important, but I´ve learned much more than that. In short, I learned how to do my job how it should be done. I will miss this working way, but I will take a little bit of Cafundó with me. A big hug for who is staying, and call me for the beers!!
And I only think in one image that can describe how good was to work at Cafundó Studio.
